As the title says, this article is my last weekly reflection in the Generasi GIGIH program. There are too many fun things that I want to tell you because during my journey at Generasi GIGIH I felt so many improvements that I felt as an individual.

This article may not be enough to tell everything, but I will try to summarize what has happened during my 6 week journey in the Generasi GIGIH program.

What did I know 6 weeks ago and what do I know now?

I signed up for the Generasi GIGIH program as a fresh graduate student who wishes to be involved in the technology industry. Data analyst is the track I chose when enrolling in this program. Initially, 6 weeks ago, I still didn’t know anything about data analysis. I just joined as an empty container ready to be filled. Then during the 6 weeks through the intermediate level in the Generasi GIGIH I learned a lot of new things. Until now I have understood in outline what data analysis is, what are the stages, what tools are used, what skills are needed, to trivial things that often happen when working in the technology industry as a data analyst. I really enjoyed every second of the process that I went through at Generasi GIGIH.

Skills that i have developed and skills that i have to develop further

When it comes to skill development, I realize many things have developed within me. During these 6 weeks I was introduced to tools that were completely new to me, Google BigQuery and Google Data Studio. Other technical skills are also getting polished and sharpened thanks to the help of extraordinary mentors. I also feel that my ability to speak and write in English is getting better and without realizing it I am also becoming more accustomed to speaking English in daily activities. Actually, all the skills that I currently have still need to be developed further, but there is one skill that I feel I should prioritize first for me to master. These skills are public speaking and communication skills, because I often feel there are obstacles when I have to change the technical language to be more friendly to ordinary people, both in writing and verbally. In my opinion, this skill is no less important than other technical skills, because in the end we have to convey the results of the analysis we have made to others.

Habits that i’ve learned by joining Generasi GIGIH

Generasi GIGIH taught me about commitment, responsibility, time management, and of course persistence. The situation in this pandemic period where all activities are carried out online certainly presents a different challenge for me. All my activities are done indoors with an internet connection and in that situation I can relax and sleep as I please. But I still hold the principle, responsibility and commitment that this is part of my journey to success, I have to plant good seeds so that later the results I reap will be good as well.

Am i good enough for the industry?

I think I still have a lot to do to reach 100% . But everything I have learned and done has been recorded as a checklist of my achievements, and another measuring tool that may be concretely calculated is the progress of the Individual Development Plan where I have completed 3 of the 5 big goals that I have designed. So I think it’s safe for me to mention that my chances of getting hired in the data analysis field are 65%. Even after this article is released, I still continue to develop what still needs to be developed until it reaches a higher percentage of possibilities and I am more confident to apply for the job I want.

Am i proud of myself?

Reflecting on all the processes I have gone through, all the efforts I have put in, the obstacles I have gone through, to where I am today. From the start I always had the principle that nothing is wasted when it comes to learning, so of course I am proud of everything I have been through and what I have achieved. I would like to thank all those who have been involved in Generasi GIGIH for providing an extraordinary opportunity for me to grow and learn many things to this day. And because of Generasi GIGIH, i finally managed to surpass my limit.

“Surpass your limit.”
